Contro Golden Travertine is an elegant natural porous limestone quarried mainly in the renowned basins of Turkey and Iran, as well as in selected Italian quarries. The words “on the other hand” indicate that the block of stone has been sawn parallel to the bedding planes (cross cut or pitched cut), a workmanship that cancels out the classic linear striations to return a refined clouded and flowery design.
Visually, it has a sunny and homogeneous background in shades of golden yellow, honey and amber, enriched by soft shades, halos and delicate clouds in shades of cream and hazelnut. This specific cut enhances the chromatic depth of the material, giving the surfaces a soft, enveloping and uniform appearance.
Geologically, it is a calcareous sedimentary rock with a carbonate matrix, formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from thermal waters. It has the typical vacuolar structure (natural pores and cavities), which can be left with open pores or filled with transparent resins, cement or colored mastics. Being a carbonate rock, it is sensitive to the action of food acids (such as lemon, vinegar and wine) and requires specific hydro-oil-repellent protective treatments for use in intensive wear contexts.

– bathroom and wellness rooms: highly appreciated for shower wall coverings, shower trays and vanity tops (with suitable grouting and hydrophobic treatments).
