Richeval - yellow limestone of natural origin

Technical characteristics of the Richeval

Geologically it is a sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate matrix (limestone/limestone). As a carbonate stone, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, and harsh anti-limescale cleaners). However, unlike many softer limestones, it has a high volume mass, excellent compressive strength and an exceptionally low water absorption coefficient for its category. However, it requires protective hydro-oil-repellent treatments at the bottom and maintenance with neutral detergents. It lends itself optimally to smooth, brushed, sandblasted, bocciardate or flamed finishes.

Applications in design

– interior and exterior flooring: thanks to its extraordinary compactness, it is ideal for continuous flooring in hotel lobbies, private residences, commercial galleries and terraces.

– facade cladding: widely used for ventilated facades, skirting and external vertical cladding due to its excellent resistance to freeze/thaw cycles.

– solid elements and furnishing architecture: perfect for making steps, covers, portals, solid sinks, shower trays and vanity tops (after suitable sealing).

– French-inspired accent walls: highly sought after for internal vertical cladding where a warm, uniform beige surface free of intrusive grain is desired.
