Technical characteristics of the Onyx Travertine Yellow

Geologically it is a sedimentary rock of hydrothermal/chemical origin with a predominantly carbonate matrix (calcite/aragonite). It combines the typical micro-porosities of travertine with the microcrystalline translucent zones of onyx. As a carbonate material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, and acidic detergents) and is subject to mechanical abrasion. Depending on the desired effect, it can be left open-pored or filled with transparent resins or colored mastics, and always requires high-quality hydro-oil-repellent treatments.
