Taj Mahal – white quartzite of natural origin

The Taj Mahal is considered the undisputed queen of quartzites, an elite material mined in Brazil’s famous quarries. This natural stone has become an absolute icon of luxury interior design as it achieves the nearly impossible feat of combining the sophisticated, diaphanous aesthetics of the finest marbles with the extreme hardness of granite.

Aesthetically, it has a cream, ivory or warm white background, crossed by delicate amber, gold and dove grey veins that seem to float beneath the surface. Its most magical feature is its translucidity: light penetrates the quartz crystals that compose it, giving the slabs a soft luminosity and a material depth that no synthetic material can replicate.

Technical characteristics of the Taj Mahal

Technically, Taj Mahal is a metamorphic rock composed almost entirely of quartz, giving it an exceptional hardness of about 7 on the Mohs scale. Unlike marbles, it is inert to acids (such as lemon or vinegar) and boasts extraordinary resistance to scratches, intense heat and stains. Its dense, non-porous structure makes it incredibly hygienic and durable over time. Although it is a very difficult stone to cut and work precisely because of its hardness, once laid it offers unsurpassed technical performance, maintaining its silky beauty unchanged without requiring the meticulous maintenance typical of limestone stones.

Applications in design

Perfect for:

– top kitchen and islands: this is the most desired material for high-end kitchens; it offers the visual warmth of marble but allows for worry-free cooking.

– backlit cladding: thanks to its translucent nature, it can be illuminated from behind to create spectacular walls or bar counters that shine with their own light.

– master bathrooms: creates an atmosphere of absolute well-being, evoking the purity of the ice and the warmth of the sand.

– flooring and stairs: its resistance to trampling makes it ideal for passage areas where one seeks elegance that does not fear the wear and tear of time.
