The Statuario Michelangelo represents the absolute pinnacle of global stone production, quarried in the historic quarries of the Carrara basin in Italy. It owes its name to the Renaissance genius who personally chose the purest blocks for his immortal sculptures.
Aesthetically, it is distinguished by a milky white or snow white background of unparalleled purity and compactness, furrowed by bold, elegant and never excessively dense anthracite grey or smoky grey veins. This stone is not simply a building material, but a true cultural icon: its translucent surface captures light by penetrating the first few millimeters of the crystal, giving the slabs an almost spiritual depth that no other white marble can replicate with the same intensity.
Technically, the Statuario Michelangelo is a very fine-grained saccharoid marble, with a hardness of about 3-4 on the Mohs scale. Its crystalline structure is exceptionally tight, which allows for a mirror polish with superior vitreous brilliance. As a material of extreme value and rarity, slabs are often treated with transparent vacuum resins to ensure maximum structural integrity during cutting. Although it is an acid-sensitive limestone, its density is such that it makes it incredibly durable if properly maintained.
