The Statuarietto is one of the finest and most sought-after varieties of Carrara marble, quarried in the heart of the Apuan Alps, Italy. As the name suggests, it is the “younger brother” of the majestic Statuario marble, with which it shares the nobility of the background and the crystalline structure, but is distinguished by a denser, thinner and more dynamic texture of grain.
Aesthetically, it has a snow-white or ivory-white background of extraordinary purity, furrowed by a network of small and medium-sized grey veins that intertwine harmoniously over the entire surface. It is the stone that best embodies the balance between the absolute brightness of white and the natural design of the earth, offering a classic aesthetic that never goes out of fashion and that adapts with versatility to both historical restoration and the most daring interior design.
Technically, the Statuarietto is a crystalline limestone marble of the highest quality, with a hardness ranging between 3 and 4 on the Mohs scale. Its very fine grain and compact structure allow for a mirror polish with an almost glassy shine, capable of giving depth and three-dimensionality to the grain. Although it is a delicate stone compared to granites, its density makes it workable with extreme precision, allowing for fine cuts and high-quality finishes.
