The River White is an extraordinarily elegant granite quarried in India, famous for its fluid and dynamic appearance, reminiscent of the flow of a frozen river. Aesthetically, it has a very light white or grey background, almost silvery, crossed by long sinuous veins that fade from smoky grey to pale blue.
Its most distinctive feature is the presence of small mineral deposits of deep garnet red or burgundy color, which dot the surface like tiny gems embedded in ice. This combination of flowing lines and pinpoint accents makes it one of the most beloved natural stones for contemporary design projects, offering an extremely durable and functional alternative to the delicacy of traditional white marble.
Technically, River White is a granite with excellent mechanical properties, with a hardness ranging between 6 and 7 on the Mohs scale. Thanks to its volcanic origin, it has a very compact structure and low porosity, characteristics that give it very high resistance to scratches, impacts and temperature variations. Despite being a pale granite (which typically requires a water-repellent treatment to prevent the absorption of pigmented liquids), it is considerably more robust than any limestone. Its surface can be machined with a glossy finish, to enhance the brilliance of the crystals, or satin, for a more natural and soft tactile sensation that hides impressions well.
