New Colonial Dream is a Sri Lankan granite of extraordinary elegance, an evolution of the classic Colonial Dream, prized for its ability to bring warmth to a space whilst maintaining a luminous base. Aesthetically, it features a cream or ivory background, enriched by a dynamic pattern of veins and shades ranging from smoky grey to golden brown.
Its most beloved feature is the presence of small quartz crystals and flecks of garnet or burgundy, which lend the surface an organic depth and a welcoming character. Unlike cold white granites, this material exudes a warm luminosity, ideal for those seeking a natural material that blends perfectly with wood finishes or furnishings in earthy tones, creating a perfect balance between refined rusticity and contemporary design.
From a technical perspective, New Colonial Dream is an extremely compact and durable granite, with a hardness of approximately 6–7 on the Mohs scale. It is highly resistant to scratches, impacts and high temperatures. Its porosity is very low, making it resistant to stains; however, as with all light-coloured natural stones, periodic protective treatment is recommended to preserve the purity of the cream background over time.
