Grigio Tarn is a granite of French origin, quarried in the Sidobre massif, known throughout the world for its extraordinary uniformity and chromatic sobriety that makes it a timeless classic of architecture. Aesthetically, it has a medium or coarse grain, characterised by a homogeneous distribution of white quartz crystals, grey feldspars and black biotite. This composition generates a balanced ash-grey hue, free of directional grain, which gives the surfaces a solid, rigorous and deeply material appearance.
Unlike veined marbles or exotic granites, Grey Tarn does not seek visual prominence, but offers a neutral and reassuring chromatic base, capable of integrating perfectly into both historical contexts and minimalist design projects. It is the ideal stone for those seeking functional and discreet elegance, where the beauty of the material lies in its immutability and the precision of its mineral texture.
Technically, Tarn Grey is one of the best performing natural stones, with a hardness of around 6-7 on the Mohs scale. It is extremely resistant to frost, trampling wear and the elements, making it practically eternal. Its very low porosity ensures excellent resilience to stains and liquid absorption. It supports all types of workmanship, from mirror polishing to flaming, always maintaining a very high structural and chromatic stability over time.
