Calacatta Vagli, quarried in the spectacular heights of the Apuan Alps, is a marble of rare beauty and a marked artistic personality. It is distinguished by its milky white background, sometimes embellished with amber hues, on which a characteristic lattice of golden-grey veins intertwines. Its peculiarity lies in its “ovulated” structure: the veins tend to enclose themselves in circular or elliptical shapes, creating an organic and almost cellular design that evokes the movement of clouds or the reflections of water.
Unlike more directional varieties, the Vagli offers a lively, three-dimensional aesthetic, capable of filling space with a natural but never excessive dynamism. It is the material of choice for those who wish to overcome the classic canons of long grain, embracing a luxury more material, artisanal and deeply linked to the morphology of the rock. From a technical point of view, Calacatta Vagli is a limestone marble of excellent compactness and fine grain, with a hardness ranging between 3 and 4 on the Mohs scale. Its structure, although it appears fragmented in the design, is extremely solid, making it suitable for high-precision machining. Being a carbonate material, it remains sensitive to acids (lemon, vinegar) and requires protective treatments when used in environments such as cooking. The polished finish enhances the luster of the bottom and makes the grey “ovules” almost vibrant, while the polished or brushed finish is particularly suggested for those who want to emphasize the tactile and natural component of the stone, reducing reflections and giving a more velvety and modern look to surfaces.
