Technical characteristics of Travertino Rosso al contro

Geologically it is a chemical sedimentary rock (travertine / vacuolar limestone) with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate opacification or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. The counter-cutting highlights the development of vacuoles and pores along the layering lines; for this reason, the surface cavities are regularly filled with transparent polyester/epoxy resins, colored mastics, or cement.

Applications in design

– designer wall coverings and facades: A top-notch choice for accent walls and ventilated exterior facades; the horizontal grain arrangement visually expands the space, while vertically it accentuates the heights.

– bookmatch compositions: thanks to the extreme regularity and linearity of the counter-flap cut, it lends itself magnificently to mirrored poses for the creation of large scenic backdrops in lobbies, lounges and reception areas.

– directional flooring and skirting boards: widely used for high-quality interior flooring where the direction of the grain guides and enhances the architectural paths.
