Rosso Venezia is a refined and enveloping variety of natural red marble extracted from the stone basins of Australia (with famous commercial selections widespread on the international market). Appreciated in contemporary interior architecture and valuable for the balance between the richness of color and the fluidity of its veins, it represents an ornamental stone of great decorative elegance and chromatic warmth.
Visually, it is distinguished by a harmonious and deep background matrix in tones of brick, terracotta, antique pink and burgundy, delicately traversed by a fluid texture of veins, nodules and calcareous nuances in tones of cream, ivory, pale pink and pearl grey. The overall design gives the surfaces a soft, bright and enveloping appearance, free from excessively strident contrasts.
Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate (calcite) composition. Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and good structural density; nevertheless, the presence of natural veined branches makes the usual vacuum resining and back screening processes appropriate during sheet processing. For use in indoor settings in contact with water or staining substances, it requires proper hydro-oil-repellent protective sealing.
