Rosso Francia Languedoc – red marble of natural origin

Rosso Francia Languedoc is one of the most iconic, historic and majestic varieties of the great family of French red marbles, extracted in the famous basins of the Languedoc region in southern France. An absolute protagonist of classical European architecture and royal residences, historically employed for the imposing columns and decorations of the Palace of Versailles and the most prestigious French castles, he represents an undisputed symbol of royalty, opulence and decorative nobility.

Visually, it is distinguished by a dramatic, deep and rich background matrix in shades of crimson red, burgundy, black cherry and dark sienna, crossed by a dense, lively and plastic inlay of nodules, breccias and veins in shades of pure white, cream, ivory and ash grey.

Technical characteristics of Rosso Francia Languedoc

Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock (brecciated limestone) with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and solid mechanical strength; nevertheless, the articulated nature of the brecciated texture makes the usual vacuum resin and back-screening treatments appropriate when processing slabs.

Applications in design

– vertical elite flooring and siding: a top-notch choice for high-quality ornamental flooring, skirting boards, cornices, and wall coverings in historic homes, luxury residences, and hotel lobbies.

– bookmatch compositions: the marked definition of the breaches and light branches enhances their mirrored pose for the creation of visually striking scenographic walls in salons and entrance areas.

– designer bathroom and vanity top rooms: widely used for scenic vanity tops, shower walls and tub linings (after applying appropriate stain-resistant protective treatments).

– elements of classical architecture and design: an excellent choice for the creation of furnishing columns, monumental portals, table tops, consoles, art inlays and period fireplace paneling.
