Rosso Francia Isabelle is a rare, sophisticated and highly prized colour variant of the famous French red marble family, quarried in the renowned historic basins of southern France (in the Languedoc region). Appreciated since the classical and baroque eras for its extraordinary chromatic grace and the softness of its nuances, it represents an ornamental stone of the highest nobility, intended for environments of absolute elegance.
Visually, it is distinguished by a harmonious and luminous background matrix in tones of coral red, antique pink, terracotta and pale burgundy, finely crossed by glazes, limestone spots and thin flamings in tones of creamy white, ivory and blush pink.
Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock (brecciated limestone) with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and good structural stability; however, its veined nature and natural limestone inclusions benefit from the usual resin and back-screening treatments during slab processing.
