Rosso Aurelio is an intense and luxurious natural red quartzite, mined in Brazil’s renowned mining basins. Celebrated in high-end contemporary architecture for its extraordinary resistance and the richness of its warm tones, it represents a material with a huge scenographic impact and extremely high technical performance.
Visually, it presents an intense and complex chromatically layered matrix: against a background in shades of ruby red, terracotta, burgundy and rust, a dynamic lattice of mineral veins, flaming and streaks unfolds in shades of antique pink, quartz white, pearl grey and copper. The fluid and at the same time structured movement of the grain gives the slabs a marked three-dimensionality and a deep natural luminosity.
Geologically, it is a metamorphic rock with a predominantly silicate composition, formed by metamorphism of high pressures and temperatures from original quartziferous sandstones. As a true silicate quartzite, it is highly resistant to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, oil, and household detergents) and does not suffer corrosion, staining, or dulling when in contact with acidic substances. It boasts a very high surface hardness (Mohs scale 7), extraordinary resistance to abrasion, scratches, intense trampling and thermal shock, as well as very low water absorption. It is suitable for intense use both indoors and outdoors.
