Rojo Daniel is a historic and very elegant natural red marble extracted in the famous mining basins of Spain (particularly in the region of Murcia and the Valencian Community). Celebrated in classical and modern architecture for its chromatic warmth and homogeneity of the matrix, it represents an ornamental stone of great tradition and sober refinement.
Visually, it presents an intense and warm background matrix in shades of brick red, terracotta, coral and burgundy, densely crossed by fine veins and thin flamings of calcitic origin in shades of ivory white, cream and pale pink. The presence of light orange shades and uniform micro-grain size give surfaces a compact, deep and extremely harmonious appearance.
Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite/dolomite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, fruit juices, and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and good mechanical properties; however, like most colored marbles, it benefits from traditional consolidation resin and back screening treatments.
