Onyx Violet is an exceptional and exotic natural limestone onyx mined in Mexico’s renowned mining basins. Celebrated in top-of-the-range interior design for its novel, magnetic color palette and the typical layered texture of Mexican deposits, it represents an ornamental stone of the highest rarity and value.
Visually, it stands out for an extraordinary combination of tones: a deep matrix in shades of plum red, eggplant purple, burgundy and amaranth is crossed by fluid concentric layers, nuances and elegant veins in shades of blush pink, lilac, ivory, quartz white and amber. The refined contrast between the reddish-purple base and the translucent glazes gives each slab a vibrant, ethereal appearance with a strong scenographic impact.
Geologically it is a sedimentary rock of chemical origin (calcareous onyx/calcareous alabaster formed mainly by aragonite and calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate opacification or corrosion upon contact with acidic substances. It has a low surface hardness and inherent structural delicacy, requiring the usual vacuum resin and back screen processes during processing.
