Funil – red granite of natural origin

Funil is a renowned natural granite of Brazilian origin, mined in the rich mining basins of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Highly appreciated in interior design and international contemporary architecture, it stands out for its warm, sunny and at the same time extremely dynamic appearance.

Visually, it features a soft background in shades of golden yellow, ochre, cream and beige, intensely crossed by fluid veins and chromatic textures in shades of brown, burgundy, quartz grey and black. The harmonious alternation between the gold matrix and the dark veins gives each plate a unique movement and a strong decorative impact.

Technical characteristics of Funil

Geologically it is a siliceous intrusive magmatic rock (siliceous granite/migmatite). Being a predominantly siliceous material very rich in quartz and feldspars, it is completely acid-fast and does NOT react with food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, or deep cleaning detergents). It offers excellent physical-mechanical performance: very high resistance to trampling abrasion, impact, scratches, heat and frost. It boasts a reduced surface porosity and excellent resistance to UV rays, maintaining the brilliance of its colors unchanged even on the outside. It responds perfectly to mirror polishing, but also lends itself very well to processes such as sanding, brushing (leather effect) and flaming.

Applications in design

– countertops and countertops: thanks to its absolute unassailability from food acids and high thermal resistance and scratches, it is a choice of choice for islands, bar counters and kitchen tops.

– accent walls and bookmatch compositions: the veined, fluid movement makes it ideal for mirrored poses on scenic walls in salons, lobbies, and reception areas.

– high-traffic floors and exteriors: perfect for interior and exterior floors subject to heavy traffic, as well as ventilated facade cladding.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: successfully used for easy-to-maintain vanity tops, shower liners, and niches.
