Carmen Red is one of the most renowned and appreciated red granites worldwide, extracted in the famous basins of Finland (Virolahti region). Recognized in international architecture for its “ring” structural structure typical of rapakiv granites, it combines great visual impact with exceptional durability.
Visually, it has a very characteristic medium-coarse texture: on a dense, dark reddish-brown, pinkish-brown, and burgundy background, large, rounded crystals of red potassium feldspar stand out, surrounded by rims and intersections of dark gray quartz and black biotite. This structure gives the surface a geometric, rich and deeply material appearance.
Geologically it is a siliceous intrusive igneous rock. Due to its composition rich in quartz and feldspars, it is completely acid-fast and does not react with food or chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, or deep cleaning detergents). It guarantees exceptional physical-mechanical performance: very high resistance to trampling wear, scratches, compression and frost action. It has almost no porosity and excellent color stability when exposed to UV rays and atmospheric agents. It lends itself beautifully to mirror polishing, but offers excellent performance and non-slip grip with finishes such as flaming, bush-blasting, brushing and sandblasting.
