Breche de Honefleure - red marble of natural origin

Technical characteristics of the Breche de Honefleure

Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate matrix (brecciated marble with a calcareous matrix). As a carbonate material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, and anti-limescale cleaners) that can cause surface clouding or corrosion. Its typical clastic structure has natural micro-porosities that are regularly saturated through suitable resining and consolidation processes during the slab processing phase. For use indoors or in contact with liquids, it requires a suitable hydro-oil-repellent protective treatment. Shines excellently with mirror polished, polished or brushed finish (silk touch effect).

Applications in design

– accent walls and open-spot compositions: the fluidity of the veins and the pink-burgundy tones make it ideal for mirrored posing on scenic walls of salons, hotel lobbies and reception areas.

– premium interior flooring and cladding: used to create ornamental flooring, marble carpets, edging bands, and vertical cladding in high-profile residential and hospitality settings.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: highly sought after for furnishing vanity tops, accent shower walls and niches (subject to appropriate stain-resistant sealing).

– custom fireplace surrounds and decor elements: perfect for sculpting classic or contemporary fireplaces, smoking table tops, console tables, and custom decor details.
