Breccia Colorata - red marble of natural origin

Technical characteristics of the Breccia Colorata

Geologically it is a brecciated carbonate rock of tectonic or recrystallized sedimentary origin (brecciated marble). Being a predominantly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, and harsh anti-limescale cleaners) that can cause corrosion or surface clouding. It has a heterogeneous texture with local hardness variability between the matrix and the individual clasts; for this reason, during the processing and resining of the slabs, it is carefully consolidated. It requires the application of a suitable hydro-oil-repellent protective treatment and is particularly suitable for indoor environments. Gives maximum chromatic-geometric expressiveness with mirror polishing or sanded/brushed finish.

Applications in design

– accent walls and bookmatch compositions: its elective application. The fragmented clasts and polychrome matrix lend themselves beautifully to mirrored posing, creating spectacular natural paintings on impact walls in salons, hotel lobbies and reception areas.

– luxury interior flooring: used to create noble flooring, geometric marble carpets, edging and perimeter bands in high-end residential and contract settings.

– fireplace and portal frames: a highly traditional choice for the creation of scenic fireplaces, upholstery, columns, pilasters, and entrance portals in classical or neoclassical style.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: used for vertical decorative cladding, niches and vanity tops (subject to suitable stain-resistant sealing).
