Technical characteristics of the Breccia Colorata Antica

Geologically it is a clastic carbonate rock of recrystallized tectonic-sedimentary origin (brecciated marble). As a carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine and aggressive anti-limescale cleaners) and is subject to surface clouding in contact with corrosive agents. Its fragmentary structure presents a natural variability in hardness between the individual clasts and the matrix, making micro-resinning and consolidation processes fundamental during processing. In order to preserve the brightness of the color over time and protect it from the absorption of stains, it requires an appropriate hydro-oil-repellent treatment. Shines beautifully with mirror polished or brushed finish (“silk” effect).

– premium interior flooring: used to create ornamental floors, central marble carpets, inlays, and edging bands in period homes or contemporary luxury settings.

– fireplace surrounds and historic architecture: choice of choice for monumental fireplaces, pilasters, columns, entrance portals, and altars of sacred art.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: used for vertical coatings of accent showers, vanity tops and consoles with a high visual impact (subject to suitable water-oil-repellent sealant).
