Gris Antique is a French marble of rare beauty, historically quarried in the Pyrenees. This stone embodies a rigorous and sophisticated elegance, distinguished by a very deep, almost black anthracite grey background, furrowed by a network of pure white veins that create a contrast of extraordinary visual strength.
Its aesthetics recall the atmospheres of the great historic European mansions, where it was used to create surfaces of great prestige and character. The natural pattern of its veins, often arranged in a fragmented and dynamic way, gives the slab an almost “electric” appearance, capable of capturing attention without weighing down the space. From a technical point of view, Gris Antique is a fine-grained limestone marble with an extremely compact and solid crystalline structure. This mineral density gives it a compressive strength higher than the average of dark marbles, allowing for a glassy mirror polish that enhances the contrast between the dark background and the white veins. Although very robust, it remains sensitive to the action of acidic substances; it therefore requires specific protective treatments to maintain its color depth unchanged and prevent surface clouding over time.
