Blu Chevernie is a natural stone with a captivating and profound aesthetic, belonging to the family of calcareous marbles or fine-grained limestones. It is distinguished by an intense bluish-grey background colour, which can range from shades of powder blue to darker, dusty tones reminiscent of the depths of the sea.
Its surface is characterised by a soft, natural veining, dotted with small fossil remains or slightly lighter veins that lend the material a subtle yet consistent dynamism. Unlike cooler grey marbles, Blu Chevernie possesses a warm chromatic ‘temperature’, ideal for those seeking a dark material that does not appear gloomy, but rather imparts a sense of calm and architectural solidity to spaces. It is a highly prized stone in contemporary interior design for its ability to create sophisticated monochromatic spaces, acting as a neutral element with a strong personality.
From a technical perspective, Blu Chevernie is a compact limestone that offers excellent workability. Its structure allows for a variety of finishes: from a matt polish, which enhances the velvety softness of its bluish tones, to a brushed finish, which accentuates its textured surface. Although it has good structural strength, like all limestones, it is somewhat sensitive to acids and has a porosity that requires suitable protective treatments for use in damp environments or kitchens. Its durability over time is excellent, especially when used for vertical cladding or interior flooring where it is not subject to extreme mechanical stress.
Perfect for:
– bathroom cladding: its blue-grey hue makes it perfect for creating relaxing spaces and home spas, pairing masterfully with light-coloured stones or natural woods.
– interior flooring: used in large formats to give continuity to living spaces, offering an elegant colour base that enhances modern and minimalist furnishings.
– vanity tops and shelves: ideal for furnishing details where the unique colour can be appreciated up close.
– stairs and wall cladding: transforms functional elements into focal points with great visual impact.
