New Caledonia (also known commercially as Caledonia Brazil) is one of the world’s most famous, versatile and highly regarded natural granites. Quarried in the rich geological basins of Brazil (the world’s leading exporter of exotic stones and ultra-high-strength granites), this material is the first choice for those seeking the perfect balance between technical durability and the cosy warmth of earthy tones.
Visually, it stands out for its extraordinarily consistent and uniform medium-to-coarse-grained texture, ideal for covering large surfaces without any unsightly visual breaks. Compared to the grey and cool-toned variants from other sources, Brazilian New Caledonia boasts a deep colour base dominated by warm shades of hazelnut brown, coffee, bronze and anthracite grey. This dark base is beautifully interspersed with feldspar crystals in shades of beige, cream and ivory, creating a constellation of micro-reflections that lend dynamism and a delicate luminosity to the surface.
Geologically, it is an intrusive igneous rock characterised by an extremely high degree of compactness and structural density. Composed mainly of silicate minerals, quartz and feldspars, this natural stone boasts extraordinary mechanical properties that place it at the very top of the class of cladding materials.
