Marron Bahia (also known internationally as Marrom Bahia or Bahia Brown) is a famous and fascinating natural granite quarried in the rich geological basins of the state of Bahia, Brazil. Much loved by interior architecture and contemporary design, this material is synonymous with domestic warmth, understated elegance and extraordinary structural solidity.
Visually, it is distinguished by an exceptionally deep and enveloping chromatic background, dominated by warm shades of chocolate brown, coffee and brown. Its texture is characterized by a medium-fine granular texture, enriched by wavy shades and specks in shades of dove gray, beige and mud gray, with discreet crystalline reflections that capture the light. This homogeneous yet dynamic color combination gives surfaces a rigorous, solid, and intensely material appearance.
Geologically, it is configured as an intrusive magmatic rock with very high-level mechanical properties. Its predominantly silatic composition gives it exceptional hardness, placing it at the vertices for resistance to deep scratches, abrasions from intense trampling and accidental impacts. Thanks to its almost zero natural porosity, it boasts a very low absorption coefficient, making it highly waterproof and refractory to liquid and oil stains. Being chemically inert, it is in no way afraid of corrosion by common food acids (such as vinegar or lemon) and resists thermal changes, frost and UV rays beautifully, maintaining its finish unchanged over time.
