Kinawa is a legendary and fascinating natural granite quarried in Brazil’s rich and historic geological basins. Much loved by international architecture and interior design, it is celebrated for its warm, dynamic and intensely expressive aesthetic.
Visually, it presents itself as a real chromatic storm: it has a sinuous and layered background dominated by shades of burnt brown, chocolate and mud grey. The true and unmistakable aesthetic signature of this material is the fluid movement of flames, waves and flowing veins in shades of dusty pink, salmon, ivory and burgundy. This spectacular interweaving of warm and cool colors eliminates any geometric rigidity, giving surfaces a hypnotic three-dimensionality and a strong sense of natural movement.
Geologically, it is configured as an intrusive magmatic rock (often classified as gneiss or migmatite) characterized by very high-level structural and mechanical properties. Its predominantly silatic composition gives it an extraordinary mineral hardness, ensuring total resistance to deep scratches, intense trampling wear and accidental impacts. Thanks to virtually zero internal porosity, it boasts a very low absorption coefficient, making it highly waterproof and stain-refractory. Being chemically inert, it does not undergo any clouding or corrosion upon contact with acidic food substances (such as vinegar or lemon) and resists thermal changes in hot pots, extreme frost and UV rays beautifully.
