Iura Beige – brown marble of natural origin

Iura Beige is a renowned stone material of natural origin extracted in the famous basins of Bavaria, Germany. Although it is commercially classified and worked as marble for its excellent polishing ability, from a geological point of view it is a unique sedimentary limestone, famous for its warm aesthetic and its extraordinary prehistoric richness.

Visually, it features an incredibly welcoming color background that ranges from shades of golden beige, cream, and tan. The true aesthetic signature of this material is the widespread and fascinating presence of marine macro- and micro-fossils, such as ammonites, belemnites, and algae fragments dating back to the Jurassic period. These dark or translucent biological inclusions create a dynamic, layered texture, giving surfaces a deep monumentality and timeless historical charm.

Technical characteristics of the Iura Beige

Geologically it is a high density organogenic limestone. The long process of natural sedimentation and compaction over the millennia has given this stone a solid structure and excellent mechanical properties, with remarkable resistance to compression and wear from continuous trampling. Despite the rich presence of fossil elements, the rock matrix maintains good cohesion. Being a carbonate-based sedimentary rock, it shows the typical sensitivity of marbles to the action of acidic food substances, which can affect their surface luster if not adequately protected. It best expresses its aesthetic versatility both in its glossy finish, which saturates beige tones and accentuates the details of fossils, and in the polished or brushed versions, ideal for obtaining surfaces that are opaque, soft and pleasantly material to the touch.

Applications in design

Perfect for:

– flooring and large surfaces: much loved for continuous interior flooring in high-end residential and commercial projects, where its warm hue creates bright, relaxing atmospheres.

– scenographic wall and backdrop coverings: used to cover focal walls and monumental entrances, transforming vertical surfaces into true galleries of natural paleontological art.

– exterior architecture: thanks to its excellent physical properties, it is frequently used (with adequate finishes and antifreeze treatments) for ventilated facades, skirting boards and high-profile external flooring.
