Breccia Tavira (also known as Brecha Tavira) is a brown marble of extraordinary elegance quarried in the Algarve region of southern Portugal, not far from the historic coastal town of Tavira from which it takes its name. Along with other famous Portuguese breccias, it represents a Lusitanian stone excellence highly appreciated internationally.
Visually, the material enchants with its natural mosaic appearance, typical of brecciated rocks. The color background is dominated by a warm, enveloping palette that ranges from chocolate brown to dark beige, up to dove gray and hazelnut shades. This deep base is interrupted and embellished with a dense network of clasts (rock fragments) and veins of ivory, crystalline white and light grey hints, sometimes enriched with reddish or golden veins. The result is a dynamic surface, rich in contrasts and with a beautiful three-dimensional depth.
Geologically it is a sedimentary limestone with a brecciated structure. Thanks to the good compactness of its minerals, Breccia Tavira responds excellently to mirror polishing, a process that saturates brown hues and enhances the brilliance of its internal fragments. It is also often worked with a polished (honed) or brushed finish for a more matte and contemporary effect. As a limestone marble, it is primarily intended for indoor use; it resists trampling well but is sensitive to food acids and requires the usual protective stain-resistant treatments.

– accent walls: the slabs laid in an “open stain” (bookmatch) enhance the natural geometry of the breach, creating scenic backdrops ideal for luxury stays or reception areas.
– interior flooring: used in large formats in entrances and state rooms to provide visual warmth, often contrasting with white or light beige marble.
– bathroom decor: find an ideal location in shower liners, skirting boards, and vanity tops, transforming the space into a private, earth-toned spa.
– tables and accessories: highly sought after for the creation of dinner table tops, coffee tables, and consoles, where stone becomes a true artistic furnishing element.
