Arctic Rainbow is a natural material with magnetic appeal and out of the box. This is a very spectacular and decorative variety of granite, extracted mainly in the geological basins of Canada or the Scandinavian countries, areas famous for the production of ancient metamorphic and magmatic rocks, born in extreme climates.
Its name perfectly describes the visual effect: a “rainbow” of Nordic, crystalline hues that seems trapped in ice.
Visually it is characterized by a strongly veined and migmatitic structure, which creates waves and fluid movements on the surface. The background oscillates between cool shades of arctic gray, ice white and anthracite black. The true signature of this material, however, is its spectacular polychrome veins: the slab is crossed by shades and lines ranging from salmon pink to brick red, up to touches accents of olive green, burgundy and golden reflections. This alternation between the severity of the grays and the warmth of the bright colors creates a dynamic and iridescent effect, similar to a Northern Lights imprinted in stone.
Geologically it is a granite (or a migmatitic gneiss) of exceptional compactness and hardness. It shares the legendary resistance of Nordic granites: it is virtually indestructible, does not scratch, does not fear extreme heat and is totally immune to the action of food acids. Having almost no absorption rate, it offers extraordinary stain resistance. The mirror-gloss finish is ideal for highlighting the contrast between the various colors of the mineral rainbow, but the brushed (leather) finish gives the material a very trendy material and velvety look.
