Onyx Multicolor Red is a magnificent and exotic natural limestone onyx mined in the renowned deposits of Pakistan and Iran. Celebrated in luxury interior design for the exceptional vivacity of its color palette and the dynamism of its mineral layers, it represents an ornamental stone of extremely rare scenographic expressiveness.
Visually, it has an articulate banded structure and concentric shades: against a dominant background in shades of ruby red, rust, burgundy and coral, veining and cloud with contrasting tones of honey, amber, ivory, quartz white, rose and dark rust intertwine. This complex variety of layers and colors gives each plate a vibrant, deep and strongly pictorial appearance.
Geologically it is a sedimentary rock of chemical origin (calcareous onyx/calcareous alabaster formed by aragonite and calcite). As a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and acidic detergents) and is subject to rapid opacification or corrosion if in contact with such substances. It has a low surface hardness and an inherent structural delicacy; for this reason, the sheets are systematically reinforced with resin and back screening. Its most valuable technical property is its astonishing microcrystalline translucency, which allows the homogeneous diffusion of light. It is fully enhanced with the mirror polished finish and fine sanding.
