Balmoral Red FG (where “FG” stands for Fine Grain, indicating the fine grain of the selection) is a famous and historic natural granite quarried in the Vehmaa mine basins in the Varsinais-Suomi region of Finland. It is considered an international benchmark in the natural stone sector due to the exceptional homogeneity of its texture and high structural performance.
Visually, it is distinguished by a finely granular and compact texture with a brick red, ruby red and pale burgundy background, uniformly dotted with smoky grey quartz microcrystals, red potassium feldspars and black biotite/hornblende. Unlike coarse-grained selection (Coarse Grain), this material offers an extremely regular, understated and consistent visual appearance even over large meters.
Geologically it is an intrusive magmatic rock (fine-grained siliceous granite). Being composed predominantly of quartz and feldspars, it is a totally acid-resistant material and is NOT sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, corrosive substances or acidic construction site detergents). It boasts extraordinary mechanical properties: very high resistance to abrasion, scratches, compression and freeze-thaw cycles, combined with almost zero porosity and minimal water absorption. It responds excellently to mirror polishing, as well as outdoor finishes such as flaming, sandblasting, bushbrushing or brushing.

– facade cladding and civil construction: widely used for ventilated facades, exterior cladding, skirting and padding due to its total frostiness and resistance to aggressive weathering.
– bathroom and wellness rooms: perfect for vanity tops, shower trays, floors and wall coverings that are easy to clean and maintain.
