Red Santiago – red granite of natural origin

Red Santiago is one of the most renowned, historic, and hardy red granites in Eastern Europe, mined in the rich granite deposits of Ukraine and widely processed and used throughout Russia and post-Soviet countries for monumental and architectural works. Celebrated for its excellent robustness and saturation of its warm tones, it represents a natural stone of great character, stability and exceptional longevity.

Visually, it is distinguished by an intense, warm and compact background matrix in tones of brick red, dark ruby, terracotta and burgundy, densely dotted and flamed with a dense micro-granular design in tones of graphite black, quartz grey, rose and ivory.

Technical characteristics of the Red Santiago

Geologically it is an intrusive magmatic rock (granite) with a predominantly silicate composition (quartz, feldspars and micas). As a strictly silicate matrix material with no carbonate components, it does not react to food or household acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine or common detergents) and is not subject to acid attack opacification. It has a very high hardness, exceptional resistance to abrasion, heavy trampling and freeze-thaw cycles, together with a very low water absorption rate. For optimal protection against stubborn oils and stains, an ordinary hydro-oil-repellent protective seal is recommended. It is suitable for any type of surface finish: from mirror polishing to flaming, brushing, bush-blasting and sandblasting for non-slip uses.

Applications in design

– intensive kitchen tops and countertops: an excellent choice for kitchen tops, islands, and countertops thanks to their total immunity to food acids, nicks, and direct heat.

– exterior and interior flooring and cladding: ideal for high-traffic flooring (airports, stations, squares), ventilated facades, exterior cladding, stairways, and pool edges, thanks to its extremely high resistance to atmospheric agents and frost.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: widely used for vanity tops, shower trays and wall coverings, combining chromatic impact and maximum cleaning convenience.

– monumental architecture and street furniture: historically used for the construction of bases, monuments, portals, benches, curbs and very high-stress façade cladding.
