Rain Forest Brown – natural brown marble

Rain Forest Brown (also known on the market as Bidasar Brown, Rainforest Brown, Café Forest) is one of the most scenic, recognizable and exotic natural stones in the world. Extracted in the Bidasar region of the state of Rajasthan (India), this material owes its name to its extraordinary surface texture that resembles a dense rainforest seen from above or a tangle of petrified branches and roots.

Visually, it has a warm, earthy background that varies from hazelnut brown to tobacco color, with golden and coppery hues. This base is dramatically furrowed by a dense branched network of raised veins in shades of dark brown, blackberry head, anthracite grey and creamy white. The strong chromatic contrast and the irregular pattern of the veins give the stone a marked three-dimensionality and an imposing decorative impact.

Technical characteristics of the Rain Forest Brown

Geologically, the Rain Forest Brown is often misclassified commercially. Although it is sold as marble or sometimes as granite, it is actually a serpentinite, a regionally metamorphic metamorphic rock rich in serpentine, dolomite, and quartz minerals. Its particular mineral composition is halfway between marble and granite in terms of compactness and hardness.

It has a higher hardness than classic limestone marbles (about 4 – 4.5 on the Mohs scale), which gives it good resistance to mechanical wear and trampling. However, its rich texture of structural micro-grain makes it an inherently delicate material during the cutting and processing stages, which is why the sheets are almost always reinforced on the back with a glass fiber mesh and resin.

Applications in design

– scenic walls and book-matching: its main application is the covering of vertical accent walls. When the slabs are laid “book” (mirror), natural pictures and geometric symmetries of great visual effect are created for hotel lobbies, luxury salons and representative entrances.

– bathroom liners and wellness rooms: Used for vanity tops, shower liners, and walls around bathtubs, where its warm, organic hues transform the space into a private SPA immersed in nature.

– furnishing and design elements: very popular for the creation of dining tables, parlor tables, reception desks and fireplace surrounds, where each piece becomes a unique and unrepeatable work of art.

– high-quality interior flooring: suitable for interior flooring in refined residential or commercial areas, preferably in large formats that do not interrupt the continuity of the natural design.
