Fossil Brown is a charming and evocative authentic marble of natural origin extracted mainly in Morocco, famous in luxury interior design for its geological uniqueness and extraordinary decorative strength.
Visually, it features a warm, compact, deep color background in shades of brown-brown, chocolate, and mud-gray. The true and unmistakable aesthetic signature of this material is the massive and spectacular presence of prehistoric marine fossils (mainly ammonites and orthocereals) perfectly crystallized in white, beige and ivory hues. This stark contrast between the dark base and the geometric designs of the thousand-year-old fossils transforms each slab into a work of prehistoric art, giving the rooms a sense of profound monumentality and timeless luxury.
Geologically it is a high density organogenic limestone marble. Despite the rich presence of fossil inclusions, its structure is exceptionally solid, compact and boasts excellent compressive and flexural strength properties. Being a carbonate-based rock, its surface is sensitive to the action of acidic food substances (such as vinegar or lemon), which can affect its brilliance. Properly treated with hydro-oleophobic protectants, it expresses its maximum visual splendor in the mirror-gloss finish, which saturates the brown tones and highlights the three-dimensionality of the white fossils, but is also very elegant in a polished version for a more opaque and silky effect.
