Blue Venato dall’Italia is a marble of exceptional beauty quarried in the renowned Apuan Alps region of Tuscany. It is a variety belonging to the prestigious family of Carrara marbles, but characterised by a very specific colour profile: unlike the classic Bianco Carrara, Blue Venato has a background that shifts towards grey-blue or cerulean tones, against which stands out a network of bold veins in anthracite grey or Prussian blue.
These veins, often long and sinuous, seem almost to ‘float’ within a semi-transparent base, creating an effect of visual depth reminiscent of ocean currents or a sky streaked with clouds. It is a highly sought-after material among architects and designers for its ability to combine the age-old classicism of Italian marble with a cool, sophisticated modernity, ideal for those who desire a space with character without sacrificing brightness.
Technically, Blue Venato is a fine-grained limestone marble with a hardness of about 3-4 on the Mohs scale. Its structure is particularly dense and crystalline, which allows for a very high-quality mirror polish, capable of emphasizing the bluish hues of the background. It has a reduced water absorption coefficient, but like all Apuan marbles, it is sensitive to acids. It is therefore recommended to apply hydro-oil-repellent protective treatments to ensure aesthetic unalterability, especially in contexts where the stone comes into contact with aggressive substances.
