Quartzite Flamingo is a spectacular and exotic natural quartzite mined in Brazil’s renowned mining basins. Celebrated in contemporary architecture and luxury interior design for its vibrant color and fluid design, it owes its poetic name to the warm, scathing hues reminiscent of the plumage of pink flamingos.
Visually, it is characterized by a scenographic matrix in shades of flamingo pink, coral red, terracotta and fuchsia, densely crossed by striations, mineral waves and dynamic veins in shades of quartz white, pearl grey, cream and antique pink. The alternation of high-contrast color bands gives each plate an organic movement and a deep natural brightness.
Geologically, it is a metamorphic rock with a predominantly silicate composition, formed by metamorphism of high pressures and temperatures from original quartziferous sandstones. As a true silicate quartzite, it is highly resistant to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, oil, and household cleaners) and does not undergo corrosion or clouding upon contact with acidic substances. It boasts a very high surface hardness (Mohs scale 7), extraordinary resistance to abrasion, scratches and heat, as well as reduced water absorption. It is suitable for intense use both indoors and outdoors. It stands out to its maximum potential with the mirror-polished finish, but is also expressed with great refinement when sanded, brushed or satin.
