Sunset Red – natural red granite

Sunset Red is one of the most renowned, vibrant and aesthetically appreciated red granites mined in Brazil’s rich stone basins (with commercial selections historically also linked to the North American market). Celebrated in contemporary architecture and luxury interior design for its exceptional chromatic-crystalline saturation and ultra-high structural performance, it represents an ornamental stone of great impact, vigor and longevity.

Visually, it presents an intense, warm and vibrant background matrix in tones of coral red, terracotta, intense orange and brick, capillarily enriched by a dense micro-granular and feldspathic inlay in tones of quartz grey, graphite black, pale pink and ivory.

Technical characteristics of the Sunset Red

Geologically it is an intrusive magmatic rock (granite) with a predominantly silicate composition (quartz, potassium feldspars and micas). As a strictly silicate matrix material with no carbonate components, it does not react to food or household acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices or common detergents) and is not subject to acid attack opacification. It has a very high hardness (Mohs scale 6–7), exceptional resistance to abrasion, heavy trampling and thermal shock, as well as an extremely low liquid absorption rate and excellent frostiness.

Applications in design

– countertops and countertops: an excellent choice for kitchen tops, islands, and bar counters thanks to their total immunity to food acids, nicks, and direct heat.

– both internal and external flooring and cladding: ideal for high-traffic flooring, ventilated facades, external cladding, stairways and pool edges, thanks to total stability against the elements and frost.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: widely used for vanity tops, shower trays and wall coverings, ensuring a warm and enveloping aesthetic together with maximum ease of maintenance.

– architecture and designer street furniture: used for the creation of outdoor/indoor tables, portals, monumental plinths, benches and decorative elements with high mechanical stress.
