Palladium – red granite of natural origin

Palladio is a scenic and compact natural granite quarried in the plutonic basins of Brazil. Celebrated in contemporary architecture and interior and exterior design for its extraordinary structural resistance and complex chromatic richness, it represents a material of great technical and aesthetic value.

Visually, it presents an intense and rich granular/polychromatic structure: on a background matrix in shades of terracotta red, hazelnut, burgundy and antique pink, a very dense interweaving of quartz crystals, feldspars and biotite develops in shades of ivory white, cream, pearl grey and black. The crystalline texture gives the surface a three-dimensional, deep and extremely solid appearance.

Technical characteristics of Palladium

Geologically it is an intrusive (plutonic) magmatic rock with a predominantly silicate composition (quartz, feldspars and micas). As a silicate material, it is highly resistant to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, oil and household detergents) and does not undergo corrosion or opacification when in contact with acidic substances. It has a very high surface hardness (Mohs scale 6–7), exceptional resistance to abrasion, intense trampling and scratches, as well as excellent resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and UV rays. It is suitable for use both indoors and outdoors. It stands out beautifully with the mirror-polished finish, but also lends itself perfectly to flamed, brushed, sanded or hydrovalidated finishes.

Applications in design

– kitchen tops and countertops: thanks to its total unassailability from food acids and extraordinary resistance to heat and scratches, it represents the excellent choice for high-performance kitchen tops.

– high-traffic and outdoor paving: ideal for heavily trampled indoor and outdoor paving (airport halls, shopping malls, squares, walkways) and ventilated facade cladding.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: used for vanity tops, shower trays and wall coverings subject to humidity and daily use of detergents.

– tables, stairways and structural elements: excellent for creating steps, thresholds, windowsills, dining tables and indoor and outdoor furnishing accessories that last a long time.
