Breccia Frutticolosa is a rare and refined natural brecciated marble of historic French origins. Recognized for centuries in high-end cabinetmaking and interior decoration, its evocative name derives from the singular conformation of its mineral clasts, which visually recall the shape of small fruits embedded in the rock matrix.
Visually, it is distinguished by a rich and dense polychrome background in shades of wine red, burgundy, purple and scorched earth, punctuated by a dense and dynamic texture of clasts in shades of pink, cream, ivory, ash grey and orange hues. This combination gives the surface a vibrant, material and extremely ornamental appearance.
Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate matrix (brecciated marble). As a carbonate stone, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, and anti-limescale detergents) and is prone to clouding or staining when exposed to corrosive substances. Its complex clastic structure requires traditional resin and slab consolidation processes to saturate the microporosities and ensure maximum stability. For use indoors, it requires a suitable hydro-oil-repellent protective treatment. It stands out beautifully with the mirror polished, sanded or brushed finish.
– accent walls and bookmatch compositions: the pictorial distribution and lively clast tones lend themselves beautifully to mirrored posing, creating natural scenic backdrops for salons, hotel lobbies and fine reception.
– interior flooring and inlays: a highly traditional choice for the creation of ornamental floors, marble inlays, central carpets, and perimeter bands in residential and period settings.
– fireplace surrounds and art cabinetmaking: historically used for the creation of decorative fireplaces, antique furniture tops, consoles, and custom furnishings.
– bathroom and vanity top rooms: used for high-impact vertical upholstery, shower niches and vanity vanity tops (subject to suitable stain-resistant sealing).
