Rosso Fanari is an enveloping and elegant natural red marble extracted from the mining basins of Greece (with historical selections also present in Türkiye and the Mediterranean area). Celebrated in interior architecture for its chromatic warmth and its balanced yet profound design, it represents a material of remarkable classical charm and great decorative versatility.
Visually, it presents a rich background matrix in shades of sienna red, terracotta, burgundy and rust, finely traversed by an irregular texture of veining, brecciation and fine flaming in shades of pale pink, ivory, cream and white. The harmonious contrast between the deep red background and the calcareous mineral branches gives the surfaces a warm, deep and welcoming dynamism.
Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and good mechanical strength properties; however, the natural grain and crystallization planes benefit from the usual vacuum resin and back screening treatments during sheet processing. For use in indoor settings in contact with liquids or staining substances, it requires proper hydro-oil-repellent protective sealing.
