Porfirico Ramello is a scenic and characteristic natural marble of Italian origin, extracted from the rich mining basins of the Veneto and Italian Prealps. Celebrated in classical and contemporary architecture for its grainy-brecciated texture that evokes the solidity of ancient porphyries, it represents a material with a strong visual impact and a typically Italic taste.
Visually, it presents an intense background matrix in shades of terracotta red, brick, burgundy and rust, densely dotted and crossed by calcitic clasts and nodules in shades of antique pink, ivory white, cream and pearl grey. The dense, jagged lattice of fragments gives the surface a dynamic, three-dimensional movement and timeless elegance.
Geologically, it is a sedimentary/metamorphic rock with a carbonate matrix with a brecciated or nodular structure. Being a stone with a predominantly carbonate composition, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate opacification or corrosion when placed in contact with acidic substances. It has good structural compactness and fair mechanical strength; however, the brecciated nature of its veins will benefit from traditional resin and back-screening processes during sheet processing. For use in indoor environments in contact with liquids, it requires proper hydro-oil-repellent protective sealing. It is maximized with the mirror polished finish and fine sanding.ù

– furniture and interior architecture: highly sought after for the creation of smoking table tops, consoles, door pads, inlay elements, and classic fireplace surrounds.
