Rosso Francia Incarnat – red marble of natural origin

Rosso Francia Incarnat is one of the noblest, most famous and historically valuable varieties of French marble, extracted from the historic Caunes-Minervois quarries in the Aude region of southern France. It owes its famous nickname “Incarnat” to the characteristic pink-pink hue that softens the red matrix; widely used in the golden centuries of French architecture, famous for the colonnades of the Trianon at Versailles and the decorations of the Opéra Garnier in Paris, it represents an icon of opulence and a high decorative tradition.

Visually, it is distinguished by a harmonious and delicate brecciated structure: on a background matrix in shades of raspberry, coral, burgundy and terracotta, a dense texture of clasts, spots and glazes develops in shades of flesh pink, blush pink, pure white and ivory.

Technical characteristics of Rosso Francia Incarnat

Geologically it is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock (brecciated limestone) with a predominantly carbonate composition (calcite). Being a strictly carbonate matrix material, it is highly sensitive to food and chemical acids (such as lemon, vinegar, wine, juices and anti-limescale detergents) and is subject to immediate clouding or corrosion when exposed to acidic substances. It has excellent compactness and reasonable mechanical strength; nevertheless, the presence of the veined lattice and breaches makes the usual vacuum resining and back screening processes appropriate during sheet processing.

Applications in design

– high-quality vertical flooring and cladding: an excellent choice for creating interior flooring, cornices, skirting, and wall cladding in luxury homes, historic buildings, and high-end hotels.

– bookmatch compositions: the refined texture of pink and white breaches on a red background enhances their mirrored pose for visually striking scenographic walls in salons and lobbies.

– bathroom and vanity top rooms: widely used for refined vanity tops, shower walls and tub linings (after applying suitable stain-resistant protective treatments).

– architectural and interior design elements: perfect for creating table tops, console tables, monumental portals, historic marble inlays, and classic fireplace surrounds.
