Travertino Classico – natural beige stone

Classic Travertine is a natural sedimentary stone of limestone nature, famous for its sober elegance and its warm hue ranging from light beige to golden cream. Its fundamental aesthetic feature is its porous structure, dotted with small vacuoles and natural cavities formed millennia ago by the ascent of gas-laden thermal waters.

There are two main ways to cut it: cross-cut, which enhances a soft, cloudy design, and vein-cut, which highlights its parallel horizontal veins, giving it a more modern and slender look. This stone is not just a material, but a symbol of solidity and permanence; its beauty lies in its ability to age with extreme nobility, acquiring a patina that tells the story of time without ever losing its Mediterranean charm and natural luminosity.

Technical characteristics of travertine

Classic Travertine is an extremely robust and weather-resistant material, which is why it has been used for millennia in monumental construction. One of his most appreciated technical qualities is his reduced frostiness and good compressive strength. The natural holes that characterize it can be left open for a rustic look (“open pore”) or filled with cement, resin or matching mastic to obtain smooth and easy-to-clean surfaces. It is a non-slip material by nature (in the polished or sandblasted finish), but being calcareous it remains sensitive to acids, requiring hydro-oil-repellent treatments for use in indoor environments prone to stains.

Applications in design

Perfect for:

– exterior flooring and cladding: Thanks to its exceptional strength and historic charm, it is ideal for ventilated facades, terraces, and walkways that must last for generations.

– natural-tasting bathrooms and wellness areas: its warm color creates relaxing and organic atmospheres, pairing beautifully with wooden elements or bronze and brass finishes.

– pool and solarium edges: When left with a matte or sandblasted finish, it offers a safe and athermal surface (not sunburned), ensuring a timeless luxury aesthetic.
