White Macauba is one of the finest and most spectacular quartzites in the world, mined in the renowned quarries of Brazil. This material is a true masterpiece of nature, renowned for its ability to defy convention: it possesses the aesthetic elegance and chromatic delicacy of the noblest marbles, but boasts the strength and hardness typical of the most tenacious granites.
Visually, it has a milky white or very light grey background, crossed by linear and parallel veins that vary from charcoal grey to powder blue, up to touching golden or sandy shades. These lines, thin and defined, give the slabs a sense of verticality and architectural rigor, making it a stone with a magnetic and contemporary charm.
Technically, White Macauba is a metamorphic rock composed almost entirely of quartz, giving it an exceptional hardness of about 7 on the Mohs scale. Unlike marble, it is extremely resistant to acids, scratches and heat, making it almost indestructible in everyday use. Its crystalline structure is very compact and, although it is a quartzite, it has an extremely low porosity which facilitates cleaning and ensures superior hygiene. Its beauty is so versatile that it lends itself to polished work, to enhance its vitreous brilliance, or smooth/matte, for a silkier and more modern effect that emphasizes the natural texture of its linear veins.
